Welcome to Sussex County 4-H

Located in the northwest corner of New Jersey, Sussex County is host to more than 60 4-H clubs, 700 members and over 160 volunteers. This site has been established to share information among current members, parents and adult volunteers as well as provide information to those interested in joining 4-H or serving as a volunteer.

At a 4-H Open House you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the 4-H program in Sussex County, what activities 4-H clubs are involved with and how you can join.
Sussex County 4-H staff will explain the basics of how a 4-H club operates. Local 4-H Clubs will also be on hand to share information about their projects. Afterwards 4-H staff, members and club leaders will be available to answer your questions and explain how to join 4-H!
Sussex County has 62 4-H clubs covering a wide variety of projects. These clubs include activities in areas such as: Nature, gardening, horses, arts and crafts, cooking, raising a Seeing Eye puppy, sheep, rabbits, goats, dairy, beef, and many, many more.
Joining a 4-H club will give you a chance to learn how to speak confidently to a group, keep records and develop skills that will help you find a job.
With 4-H you can also make a difference in your community through public service activities

Northeast Regional Volunteer Forum (NERVF)
October 23-26, 2008
Manchester, New Hampshire

The NERVF is an opportunity for 4-H Leaders and Teen Leaders from the 13 states
in the Northeast Region to come together for a long weekend of fun, learning and
connecting with other leaders in a meaningful and positive way. Group
management skills are learned and improved, friendships gained and renewed.
This is a great place to learn, gather tools and samples to bring back for your
club, county, and state.

Mission

The Rutgers Cooperative Extension 4-H Youth Development program uses a learn-by-doing approach to enable youth to develop the knowledge, attitudes, and skills they need to become competent, caring, and contributing citizens of the world. This mission is accomplished by using the knowledge and resources of the land-grant university system, along with the involvement of caring adults.
