4-H youth participating in our beef club learn the basic principles of animal science as they gain an understanding of feeding and sound management practices. They learn to evaluate/grade animals based on current market demands as well as identifying wholesale/retail cuts. They develop presentation skills through public speaking, demonstrations, showing and judging exercises. As a whole they come to understand the value of scientific research upon animals and its influence on the meat industry.
